a quality portrait should be an image that moves the viewer from deep inside and should evoke some sort of emotion. this is what the best of the best know and do consistently and this is what dave strives to obtain with each portrait session. for dave, this cannot be done using "corny" props and backdrops with fixed poses, but through a relentless yet relaxed format that allows the model to be him/herself as this tends to produce expressions and postures that are more "true to self" for that individual and in turn produce pleasing images.
it's depressing how many of us hate to be photographed as most feel they do not "look good" in pictures they have made. dave feels sure this is due to the stiff poses and "say cheese" smiles that most are forced into by other photographers. as a photographer dave is not above following a toddler around, crawling on his belly in knee high grass to get "the shot" as that is what his clients pay him to do; however, dave will abstain from using methods that obtain run of the mill images.
beyond his shooting style, dave loves to add artistic and creative enhancements to his images that will take that image to the next level. enhancements such as color toning, such as sepia or cyan, hand tinting images by adding color to black and white images, or using creative filters allowing the photograph to look more like a painting are more of his standards options.

RATES:
all portraits are shot in color but can be shot in only black and white if the client wishes. in post-production, up to 10 images will be converted to black and white for the client if the client desires. the photographer may choose these 10 poses or the client may do so.
in addition to the straight images, 10 black and white conversions, a few sample images will be included for visual reference. these usually include a sepia toned image, hand tinted image, antique photo, as well as an artistic rendering.
all straight (unedited), and enhanced images are then uploaded to www.dlhphoto.zenfolio.com for online viewing and/or purchasing. only straight images are available for purhase as enhanced images carry additional costs and must be purchased through the photographer.
INDIVIDUALS:$50 per hour** $75 per hour on location***
COUPLES/PAIRS: $70 per hour** $95 per hour on location***
GROUPS (3 + ): $100 per hour** $125 per hour on location***

*keep in mind that in the case of couples and groups, the cost of the shoot would also include individual and couple shots also. you are not limited to only the couple/group shots.
*CDs of print quality images may be purchased for $275.oo. These CDs would contain all STRAIGHT images (no edited images) that the client could print on his/her own with a photographer's release.
*individual poses may be purchased also for printing of announcements, note cards, invitations, or Christmas cards also. prices start at $50.oo for this option. please call/email for specific pricing.
